Start a shell.

Mount a partition with read/write capabilities (at least 300MB: must be of a Linux file system or a Windows VFAT, but not Windows NTFS; a USB flash drive is OK), e.g.:
sudo mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1

Execute the command: sudo /usr/local/OpenVistA/vista

This will open a dialog box asking you where you want to install the database, etc. Eventually, you will get to a GTM> prompt from where you can run VistA (which I cannot really help with, since I don't know VistA personally). Type h (short for halt) to get back to the shell.
