Re: Editorial: How Medical Record Software Could b
by Kevin Power on Thursday January 19, @04:04AM
Excellent article, I have also worked in the medical field as a Biomedical Eng Technologist, and have found it frustrating watching all the money being wasted because of people not being brave or trusting of others to do the correct thing. They usually end up spending millions on something that will never work for the intended purpose it was bought for. Case in point I was involved in getting a system that would not only track our departments time and equipment work history and asset tracking but it would be a system that would link to purchasing and accounting(plus all the other departments). It was to be a enterprise solution, instead of each department having it's own non communicating system. Well we thought we had all our ducks in a row, all department heads where in agreement I just had to take it to our director to explain our reasons for this choice. I know sooner step into his office and I am being told that we are getting a free system from GE due to the big purchase agreement signed with them. The product was not even GE's and it was just an asset package. Well 5 years later and about $1,000,000.00 later it has not worked and has not been free. Also GE does not even support it or recommends it, what a deal.
