Re: 2007 HIMSS Wrap-Up
by Will Ross on Friday March 02, 2007 @ 12:09 PM
Another highlight of the show was the Interoperability showcase. From the FOSS side of the house, for the third year in a row Dr. Bill Lober from University of Washington demonstrated open source informatics tools pulling a live feed from the various demonstrations underway at the show, and using the feed as a biosurveillance data stream. -- [wr]

Another thing to mention in the Eclipse Open Healthcare Framework (OHF). OHF had enabled IHE based interoperability for eight open source and commercial applications at the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase. The vendors where using the OHF FOSS components to do IHE XDS, PIX, PDQ, and ATNA. Or in other words shearing and searching patient IDs and documents, and sending Audit messages - using secured protocols. It might be appropriate to note that in addition to McKesson's new partnership with RedHat, they had also acquired Practice Partners which is an OHF user. This is a double win to open source in healthcare :-)
