Open eHealth Foundation and partners announced at HIMSS 2008
Interesting Developments Posted by Stuart Turner on Wednesday February 27, 2008 @ 11:27 PM

At the HIMSS 2008 conference in Orlando, Florida, the Open eHealth Foundation released a press statement describing the formation of this new organization with new partners including InterComponentWare, Agfa HealthCare and Sun Microsystems. More after the break. Digg this article

The statement claims the effort will "leverage existing open source projects to develop a platform that enables its members and health organizations to build free open source software components and reference implementations"

Membership is available, but it is unclear to what level members who are not contributing or "promoting members who have a high level of influence on the direction of the foundation due to their significant involvement" are able to play a meaningful role or how the community at large will participate.

Would love to hear feedback from those who are more familiar with the announcement, partnerships and goals of this organization.
