  Smartcards potentially vulnerable to photo amateur cracking

Computer security researchers at the University of Cambridge describe an inexpensive attack on smartcards by means of a photo flashgun and a microscope. This is very relevant to healthcare applications since smartcards have been hailed as the next best thing to biometric scanning for user authentication and health data access security.
